Privacy Policy — Power Junk

Who we are

Power Junk ("we", "us", "our") is a registered waste carrier providing waste removal services across London and within the M25 (Licence No. CBDU554709). This policy explains how we handle personal data submitted through the enquiry form on this website, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry, we collect:

Your name, phone number, and email address
Your location/postcode, if provided
The type of job you need help with, and any message or details you add
Photos of the items or space you'd like cleared, if you choose to attach any

We also briefly log the IP address of enquiry submissions for up to 15 minutes, purely to prevent automated spam — this is not linked to your enquiry details and is discarded automatically.

Why we collect it, and our lawful basis

We process this data under the lawful basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). You have proactively contacted us to request a quote or ask about our services, and we use your details solely to respond to that request, arrange the job, and keep basic records of the enquiry. We consider this a reasonable and expected use of your data given the context in which it was provided, with minimal impact on your privacy.

How long we keep it

Photos you attach to an enquiry are stored on our server for 6 months from the date you send them, and are then automatically and permanently deleted.

Your enquiry details (name, phone, email, message) are sent to us by email and are not stored elsewhere on our website or server. We keep the email itself for reasonable business record-keeping, and will delete it on request (see "Your rights" below).

Who we share it with

We don't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing. Your enquiry is delivered to us via Google's Gmail service (acting as our email provider), and any attached photos are stored on our web hosting provider's servers until they're deleted under the retention period above.

How we protect it

Uploaded photos are validated to confirm they're genuine images before being saved, using randomly generated filenames
The folder photos are stored in cannot execute scripts and cannot be browsed/listed publicly
Form submissions are rate-limited and checked against automated spam
Photos are automatically deleted after the 6-month retention period described above

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Ask what personal data we hold about you, and request a copy
Ask us to correct inaccurate data
Ask us to delete your data (including before the 6-month period ends)
Object to our processing of your data, or ask us to restrict it
Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe we've mishandled your data

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in how we handle data. Any changes will be posted on this page.
